What makes Intentional Living Coaching different from other forms of coaching?
Life, health, and business (or any other aspect of life you can think of) coaches have a keen ability to identify the skills and talents of the people we assist and take the time to create the best exercises, training, and game-plans to bring out our client’s potential. For the athletic coach, it’s developing one’s physical and endurance potential. Health coaches support one’s efforts to increase optimal health. Business coaches look to help co-create and sustain successful business practices for their clients. As an Intentional Living Coach, the goal is to transform your life and reach your highest potential by using mindfulness to create a purposeful, productive, and balanced life - an intentional life.
What's the difference between coaching and counseling?
Although coaching can be very therapeutic, it is not a qualified space to diagnose or treat any traumas or mental health issues or to “fix” what may be perceived as what is “wrong” with a person, while therapy does. Coaching is an opportunity to bring awareness to what is “right” with you, and trusts that each person who engages in coaching has the potential to create and adopt healthy habits and behaviors that will enhance latent or known strengths to help them to be successful in key areas of their life. Coaches inspire people to become the best versions of themselves, and the coaching I provide cultivates being more balanced, purposeful, productive and intentional with life. You become “better” because your internal motivations are uncovered and we are taking the time to connect your motivations to short and long-term goals. You'll learn to become more proactive and less reactive to perceived challenges – all with the support of a coach. Sometimes it can be difficult to discuss why we're truly motivated to do things, but by making it clear, it has the power to assist you with achieving the right goals for your path. What skills and strengths do you have that can help me experience results?
My top 5 strengths are Strategic (I can find the best route by sorting through the clutter), Intellection (I like to think of all the possibilities), Connectedness (I see the bigger picture, and that everything is connected), Relator (I naturally encourage relationship deepening), and Discipline (I set up routines, focus on timelines and deadlines, and break long-term projects into a series of specific short-term plans). (Gallup CliftonStrengths). As a coach, however, I maintain the belief that the key to experiencing results has more to do with your strengths than mine! Having self-efficacy (your belief and confidence in your ability to do something) is something I will always assess; do you believe you can do what you said is important to you? If not, then we will reassess what's important to you and nurture the areas within your mindset to help you believe it is possible!
What should I expect in my first coaching session?
We will identify where you are and where you want to be to develop what your personal "compass" is. Your personal compass helps the both of us to know when your beliefs and behaviors move you further away or closer to your overall definition of success and wellness. You will fill out an intake form prior to our session that assesses your satisfaction in different areas of your life (i.e. health, relationships, spirituality, fun, career, etc.) that will give us a layout of where you want to experience fulfillment. Then, you will select the top 2-3 areas that you want to put more intention and energy in to develop. Every coaching session afterward will focus on creating actions steps for those 2-3 areas including related exercises, reflection activities, readings, videos, and accountability from me.
How long will it take before I see results/changes?
That depends on you! Coaching is a dedicated time to focus on you, and to get serious about knowing, living, and being your Truth ™. You will have a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely goal/action-plan after each session that we co-create together. It is up to you to commit to yourself and follow through. Current and past clients I've supported have seen results after one session, while others have noticed a difference in a few months to a year. Your mindset, resolve, and support system all have an impact of when you and others - see your transformation!
How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?
I offer sessions between 60 and 90 minutes long - most clients find 60 minutes will suffice each session. We can meet as often as you want or need. I meet with some clients twice a month, monthly, and/or once a quarter. To get the most out of each session and to make the most of your motivation and energy each session to help propel you forward with your goals, it is suggested to meet twice a month if possible.
Do you only coach black women?
Although my Intentional Living Coaching practice predominantly serves women of color, my services are open to anyone who is willing to take the journey of self-exploration with my support! I have coached people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, races, sexual identities, and gender. If what I offer resonates with you, let's work together!
